Genetic parameters and genetic trends of female fertility in Icelandic dairy cattle

چکیده

Fertility, represented by calving interval, has been included in the genetic evaluation of Icelandic cattle since 1993. In spite this an unfavourable trend is seen and, recent implementation test-day models for milk production changed premise using interval to represent fertility. The aim study was estimate parameters and trends different female fertility traits dairy suggest new evaluation. Insemination records first three lactations heifer period 52,951 cows were used analyse traits: conception rate at insemination (CR), number inseminations per service (AIS), last (IFL), (ICF), (ICL) (CI). Correlations between also estimated. Five linear animal (co)variance components. Breeding values compared, investigated. Estimated heritabilities low, ranging from 0.01 (IFL) 0.08 (ICF). Genetic correlations cow performances within ranged 0.23 0.81. Between traits, 0.36 1.00. strong, they weak (-0.17) very strong (0.97). generally unfavourable, but more pronouncedly so AIS, IFL, ICL CI than ICF CR. seemed IFL favourable ICL. a revised cattle, should be fertility, CR

Genetic Aspects of Fertility and Longevity in Dairy Cattle

The aim of this thesis was to explore conditions for selection and genetic improvement of fertility and longevity in dairy cattle. The background is that single-trait selection for milk production is known to lead to impaired fertility and consequently to shorter lifespan. This in turn results in financial losses and ethical concerns. Since many years, the Swedish dairy farmers have recorded mi...

Genetic and Phenotypic Trends of Productive and Reproductive Traits in Iranian Holstein Dairy Cattle of Isfahan Province

Productive and reproductive traits have great importance in international dairy cattle breeding objectives. Production, reproduction (days open and calving interval) and pedigree data of Iranian Holstein dairy cattles were collected between 2002 and 2012 from 47 herds in Isfahan province. The data set consisted of 30179 records from 18837 registered IranianHolstein dairy cattles. Single trait r...

Linear and threshold model genetic parameters for disease, fertility and milk production in dairy cattle

This study provides estimates of genetic parameters for various diseases, fertility and 305-day milk production traits in dairy cattle using data from a UK national milk recording scheme. The data set consisted of 63891 multiple lactation records on diseases (mastitis, lameness, milk fever, ketosis and tetany), fertility traits (calving interval, conception to first service, number of services ...

Genetic parameters and trends in the Chilean multibreed dairy cattle population.

Estimates of additive and nonadditive multibreed co-variance components, genetic parameters, and predicted genetic values for first lactation 305-d mature equivalent (ME) milk yield, fat yield, and protein yield were computed using data from a sample of 3316 cows from the Chilean Holstein-other breeds multibreed population. Variances and covariances were estimated by 2-trait REML analyses using...
